UPDATE – Christchurch COVID-19 Case & WMCNZ ConneXion

WMCNZ AdministratorAnnouncements, COVID-19, National Secretary, News

Tēnā koutou,

You may be aware that a health worker working at a managed isolation facility in Christchurch tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. They are isolating at home along with a household contact who has since tested negative. You and those in your church may be wondering what this means for ConneXion 2020 which commences in Christchurch this Friday.

Indications from the Ministry of Health are that there is minimal risk to anyone in the community. ConneXion 2020 will therefore proceed as planned. We will continue to monitor the situation and will update you if necessary.

Rest assured that we will do all that we can to enable you to protect yourself and others.

We encourage you to

Wear a face mask on public transport e.g. planes.
Use the NZ COVID Tracer app (for those coming to ConneXion there will be QR code posters at The Well) (N.B. We will be checking attendees in as part of the registration process so we will have a record of who attends).
Stay home if you are sick.
Practise good hygiene
Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds using soap or use hand sanitiser.
Cough or sneeze into your elbow.

Remember – At level 1 the virus is CONTAINED but we need to continue to take precautions which will help to minimise the spread of COVID-19 if community transmission returns.

Ngā mihi nā

Rev Peter Benzie

(WMCNZ National Secretary)
