Dear Friend,

Re: Fiji Project – Media and Public Release

The Nation of Fiji has suffered greatly over the past year because of the effects of the
COVID-19 Pandemic. The Health and Economy of its people have been severely impacted.
From July this year Medical Authorities were reporting in excess of one thousand new cases a
day and there have been more than seven hundred deaths reported. While the health situation
has significantly improved in recent weeks due to high vaccination numbers the Economic
situation of many Fijians is still dire with many losing employment and struggling to put food on
the table.

A number of individuals and Auckland Churches are organizing the shipment of a twenty foot
container of basic food items such as Flour, Rice, Lentil, Vanity Pack etc. that will be distributed
to needy families. The container is scheduled for departure on the 16th of December 2021.
Several organizations have already agreed to support the Project. Food items will be purchased
from ‘Pak-N-Save’ at ‘cost.’ Matson Shipping have agreed to provide the Container and cover
the Transportation Costs from Auckland to Fiji. The Fiji Government has also agreed to waive
duty on the shipment. Pacific Media Radio has agreed to promote this Project on air.

The purpose of this letter is to kindly request financial contributions towards the purchase of the
food items. Packing in NZ will done by local volunteers.
