Important Update from National Youth Ministry

WMCNZ AdministratorAnnouncements, Events, News, Youth Ministry

Greetings to our dear Wesleyan whānau across Aotearoa,

The WMCNZ National Youth Leadership Team are sad to announce that

*WYCAMP 2022 will be postponed until 2023*

This has been a difficult decision and we know it will be disappointing for our young people.  We look forward to being able to come together in 2023.

This year has been so intense and the scripture that comes to mind is: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (Gal 6:9). Many are weary and we believe the Holy Spirit is calling us to invest in our Youth Leaders and Young Adults by providing them with the opportunity to take time out – to breathe.

Breathe Young Leaders Retreat Jan 14-17, 2022

Please watch the attached video before reading on!

This weekend will be a space for young leaders to engage with God and have space to worship, reflect and have fun (with others!). We want to create space for youth leaders and young adults to be poured into and get ready for another year of life and ministry.

Breathe Retreat, for youth leaders and young adults will be held instead of WYCamp 2022.

WHEN: January 14th, 6:30pm (doors open)- 17th January 2pm.

WHERE: CYC Ngaruawahia 148 Waingaro Road, Ngāruawāhia 3720

NB: Due to CYC Ngāruawāhia’s requirements, Vaccine Passes will be required to attend this event.

Youth Leaders: anyone who volunteers on the team that serves the youth of the church

Older youth (18+) & Young Adults: whether you call them older youth or young adults, they are welcome here! This is a chance for those who usually are outside the ages for WYCAMP to take part. This is a unique chance for us to gather across all our churches and you do not need to be serving with youth.

Special Recommendation for developing young leaders
We want to take this chance to pour into certain young people who show a real interest in serving and allow them a chance to mingle with other youth leaders. You can recommend young people  that show leadership potential (restricted to just 16 + 17 year olds). Email with their name and date of birth and why you recommend them. Once they have been approved, that young person can register.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR: Youth in years 7-12, unless they have been recommended as a showing leadership by their youth leader.

COST: We encourage each church to consider how they might contribute financially and invest in their people to attend. The Wesleyan Church has generously provided a Scholarship Grant! Participants can choose which amount they pay from these options:

$270 True Cost
$230 Partial Wesleyan Scholarship Grant
$199 Full Wesleyan Scholarship Grant

Register NOW:
Registrations Due: January 7th

Please forward this email on to your youth leaders and young adults! Have questions? Please contact myself or Lauren Millington(camp administrator)

God bless you in this advent season! Trusting and surrendering all things to Christ,
